Utah Home Inspection Certification/License regulationsIn 2025, the Utah State Legislature enacted House Bill 58, creating a new license classification for Private Home Inspectors.

Approved Certification: You must hold a valid certification from an approved organization, such as the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI), or be Residential Combination Inspector certified by the International Code Council (ICC).

General Liability Insurance: You must hold a liability policy with a minimum coverage amount of $500,000.Errors and Omissions (E&O) Insurance: You must hold an E&O policy with a minimum coverage amount of $500,000. The Utah Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL) must be named as the certificate holder.

Licensing Fee: A non-refundable application fee (typically $86) applies.
