Requirements for Home Inspectors in New Jersey

Home Inspection is a licensed profession in New Jersey.
PHII is NOT approved to provide the required education, NJ requires live in person training.
To become licensed, home inspectors must:
1.) Complete high school or equivalent
2.) Complete 180 hours of approved education (with 40 supervised field hours)
3.) Successfully pass the NHIE or complete 250 inspection under direct supervision of a licensed inspector.
4.) Proof of errors and omissions insurance
5.) Submit application and fee
Note: PHII has courses approved for home inspector continuing education. Home inspectors are required to complete a minimum of 40 hours of continuing education for each biennial licensing period. Up to 20 units of continuing education can be obtain through online courses.
