North Carolina / Home Inspection Certification/License Requirements
Requirements for Home Inspectors in North Carolina

PHII is NOT approved to provide the required education.
To become licensed, home inspectors must:
1.) Submit application and fee
2.) Successfully pass state exam
3.) Meet one of the following three conditions:
a. Have a high school diploma or its equivalent and satisfactorily complete an approved education program ( 120 hours classroom and 80 hours field training).
b. Have education and experience the Board considers to be equivalent to that required by as (a).
c. Be licensed, in good standing, for at least six months as a general contractor, architect, or professional engineer .
